Group Study Exchange

Group Study Exchange

Group Study Exchange (GSE) is a Rotary International program, underwritten by The Rotary Foundation.  GSE is a vocational and cultural exchange program between young professionals and business persons of two countries.  Once a year, each Rotary District exchanges a team with another District; past years have seen District 7150 (Central New York) exchange with Districts in Peru, the Philippines, Scotland, and India.  In May of 2009, District 7150 will send a GSE Team to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  The exchange will take place from mid-May to mid-June (30 days).

This year’s GSE Team from Central NY will be led by Tom Collins, a member of Moravia Rotary Club.  The team will be composed of four members, all non-Rotarians, who will be selected based upon their applications for the position.  If selected, you will travel to and from Rio de Janeiro at no cost, and all of your meals, lodging, and transportation while in Brazil will be taken care of by the hosting Rotary Clubs.

If you live or work in the Moravia area and meet the following qualifications, we encourage you to apply to be a team member for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

  • All interested candidates need to have their applications endorsed by Moravia Rotary Club.
  • Be a non-Rotarian and not a blood relative of a Rotarian.
  • Be between the ages of 25 and 40.
  • Be a US citizen in good health.
  • Be neat in appearance.
  • Be articulate and able to speak before a group.
  • Have a sound educational and professional background.
  • Be enthusiastic about your chosen profession or vocation.
  • Be currently employed on a full time basis, engaged in that business or profession for at least two years.

If the idea of representing your vocation and country to other young professionals in Brazil excites you, please take the time to download the application form and send it to any Moravia Rotary Club member.
